NCLEX RN-PN

The National Council (of State Boards of Nursing) Licensure Examination (NCLEX) Review is an intensive and comprehensive preparatory course.

Facts About NCLEX® and Your NCLEX Prep

You’ve finished nursing school. Now it’s time to practice your profession. Here are a few things you should know about the NCLEX, the licensure exam you need to become a nurse, and your NCLEX Prep

1. The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), aka “The Boards,” is designed to determine that you’ll be a safe and effective nurse throughout your career. When you are eligible to take the NCLEX, you will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT). The computer-based exam costs $200, and is offered throughout the year.

2. The NCLEX-RN exam is pass/fail based on your ability to answer passing-level questions correctly. On Test Day, you will see anywhere from 75 to 265 questions and have up to 6 hours to complete the exam.

3. The NCLEX-PN® exam is pass/fail based on your ability to answer passing-level questions correctly. On Test Day, you will see anywhere from 85 to 205 questions and have up to 5 hours to complete the exam.

4. On NCLEX Test Day, you’ll have a maximum of 6 hours to complete the exam, which includes a tutorial in the beginning.

5. There is an optional break after 2 hours of testing, and another optional break after 3.5 hours of testing.

6. Multiple-choice questions on both the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN have 4 possible answer choices. Both exams also contain multiple-response, fill-in-the-blank, hot spots, chart/exhibit, and drag-and-drop question types.

7. When planning to write the NCLEX, QuickRN suggests adding our 4 step learning process to your own review at least one month before the exam. The intensive process we suggest can be modified to suit your preference

8. During your NCLEX prep with QuickRN, we recommend you start with our Step 1 “Building Blocks” by developing a review sheet for vocabulary and basic nursing knowledge; move to our Step 2, which teaches you how to “Deconstruct NCLEX-style questions”; learn how to manage test anxiety through our “Meditation Practices” which are embedded in our exam practice modules; and Step 4 to practice with the simulation exam which has a similar algorithm as the NCLEX, providing you with the experience you need to help you successfully pass the NCLEX.

9. QuickRN suggests you take the time to scout your testing location beforehand, prepare for all possible variables, and eliminate any unwanted stressors that could arise on NCLEX Test Day. Preparation is the key to your success.
